Neighbourhood Profile: Grousewoods

Grousewoods is a newer development in North Vancouver, built in the 1980’s when the District opened it up for development. It is located at the foot of Grouse Mountain off of Nancy Greene Way. All homes were built under a strict building scheme designating that all homes had to be built as West Coast Contemporaries with paint in neutral earth tones and cedar shake roofs. This building scheme has since expired and you will see the odd house that has ventured out with different colours of paint, kinds of roofing and most noticeably building styles.

Grousewoods is known for its large, family friendly housing mostly located on small cul-de-sacs which are all linked by a series of meandering trails. There is a large park and tennis courts located on Grousewoods Drive South. Many of these homes have smaller lots than usual, and there are even some “zero lot lines” which appears as though the homes are duplexes, however, the are detached single family homes.

Residents enjoy a quick 5 minute uphill climb to the base of Grouse Mountain where they can enjoy skiing in the Winter and the famous Grouse Grind hiking trail in the Summer. Dog lovers enjoy walking along the “Power Lines” a flat trail located at the base of the mountain.
