The Seymour/Riverside area is located to the West of the Second Narrows bridge allowing for quick commutes to Vancouver while offering some of the most unique real estate in North Vancouver – river front homes. Many of the homes in this neighbourhood border the Seymour River, making for a serene and private retreat. There are some condos, mostly wood frame and the Southern part of this neighbourhood is very industrial and where the North Shore Transfer Station and Recycling Drop off Depot call home. There is also a large Superstore grocery store that services the area. Maplewood Farm is the big attraction here! Home to horses, cows, sheep and more. This family friendly attraction is run by the District of North Vancouver.

Recognized in 2000 as a Millennium Heritage site, one of twelve such North Shore locations honoured for their importance to historical, natural and cultural significance, Maplewood Farm is situated on agricultural land dating back to the early 1900s. A thriving dairy farm in the 1920s, this two-hectare visiting farm opened to the public as a District of North Vancouver park in 1975 and is now home to more than 200 domestic animals and birds. Visitors can enjoy seasonal pony rides, a daily milking demonstration, special seasonal events, and a great gift shop. Popular contact areas are Goathill where the goat kids and their moms play, and Rabbitat where the bunnies live. An educational and enjoyable destination for children and adults alike who want to rekindle the spirit of the North Shore’s rural heritage and get up close and personal with story book characters.
