Neighbourhood Profile: Princess Park
Princess Park is located to the North of 29th street between Upper Lonsdale and Lynn Valley. This is a quiet, entirely residential area with several child friendly cul-de-sacs and many homes are within walking distance to Carisbrooke Elementary school which is located in the Upper Lonsdale area.
As the name suggests, Princess Park is home to a beautiful, spacious park favoured by locals.
Homes in this area were built between 1950-1970 for the most part and the dominant style was a 2 level house above ground. Some of these houses remain in their original form, and some have been transformed through gorgeous renovations.
Recreation:
Princess Park
A 15 hectare park popular for dog walking, kids playground, and tennis courts with washrooms. Historic Hastings creek runs through the park. In the 1950s the creek was dammed with a concrete spillway, creating a large swimming hole. The water was murkey and freezing, but the lack of alternatives still drew the crowds on hot summer days. There was no formal park then; the area was just called Princess Pool.
